Guest of honour at the first 2016 bi-monthly Mere Market event, Madam Emmy Sogavare has urged women to be virtuous in their business dealings as they showcase and promote their products.

The three- day event for members of the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) begins in Honiara today.

“Proverbs 31 of the bible speaks of a virtuous woman as one with intelligence and business sense to evaluate a piece of property and buy it.

“The Proverbs 31 woman will see that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

“A virtuous business woman opens her arms to the poor and extends her arms to the needy, especially women who are less fortunate.

“A virtuous woman learns domestic skills, whether it is sewing, cooking, floral or weaving handicrafts,” Madam Sogavare said.

Madam Sogavare said the Mere’s Market is a time for women to network and promote their business and sell their products to be able to earn an income.

She also took the time to remind the women of the Valentine’s Day this weekend and urged them to spare their time to give a Valentine’s Day card to their mothers and loved ones.

“Valentine’s Day is all above love and mum. There is no one better than you at spreading God’s love where ever you go,” she said.
