PARLIAMENT FURTHER ADJOURNED TO ALLOW SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION BILL SCRUTINY

     Parliament was further adjourned this morning to next Monday.

    Upon the resumption of Parliament this morning after a two weeks recess, the House passed a motion by Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare to further adjourn its current sitting till Monday 23rd May to allow the Parliamentary Accounts Committee to inquire into a supplementary appropriation bill for tabling next week.

    Parliament sanctioned the two weeks recess from Tuesday, 3rd May to Monday 16th May to allow the Prime Minister, Hon Manasseh Sogavare, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs which includes Sports, Hon Manasseh Maelanga, Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, Hon David Tome, Leader of Opposition, Hon Jeremiah Manele and member of the Independent Group, Hon Bodo Dettke to travel to Port Vila, Vanuatu to support the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands with its bid presentation for the 2023 Pacific Games.

    The bid presentation event turned out in favour of Solomon Islands as the host nation of the Pacific Games in 2023. The other contender was French Polynesia (Tahiti).
