Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare will hold a one-day Summit with the Provincial Premiers this Friday 4th November 2016.
The aim of the Summit, which will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office, is to converse with the Premiers on the proposed Federal Constitution and the Government System that it will create.
The adoption of a Federal Constitution for Solomon Islands is standing Government policy which the Democratic Coalition for Change Government soon after taking office in late 2014 ensured that work towards achieving this policy objective is smoothly executed through the provision of required financial resources.
In the last nine years, the federal reform has been enjoying bipartisan support at both the national and provincial government levels as successive political governments as well as provincial governments also supported the adoption of this proposed governing system.
“I am duty-bound to consult the Provincial Premiers on how best we should move forward together in completing this important task,” the Prime Minister said in reference to the summit.
Meanwhile, the Government will bring the work of the Constitutional Congress and the Eminent Persons Advisory Council to a close as soon as the final Draft Federal Constitution is handed over to the Prime Minister in June 2017.
