Minister Maelanga Heads Goodwill Visit To Taiwan

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has the honor to announce that Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Home Affairs Hon Manasseh Maelanga is leading a delegation of high ranking officials on a goodwill visit to Taiwan from 24th April through 28th April 2017.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Hon Maelanga and his delegation will pay courtesy calls on the Taiwanese President, Her Excellency Dr Ing-wen Tsai and Foreign Minister, Dr David Lee and other high ranking officials.

The delegation will also call on the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to sign the MOU on Cooperation in Meteorology between SI and Taiwan, which will further consolidate the two Governments’ existing collaboration in Meteorology.

The Taiwanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Roger Luo said, “Solomon Islands and Taiwan have been close allies for over three decades. The visit of high ranking Solomon officials to Taiwan not only manifests the close and cordial ties between the two nations, but also helps enhance mutual understanding and cooperation.”

He added that, “Besides the above-mentioned programs, the Embassy has also arranged for Hon Maelanga and his delegation to visit the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village in Taiwan, in order to enhance cultural and tourism exchanges.”
