PM Hou welcomes Taiwan’s support for 2023 Games

PRIME Minister Rick Houenipwela have welcomed the Republic of China (ROC) Taiwan’s commitment in supporting the country’s preparations towards the 2023 Pacific Games.

In a meeting with the ROC Ambassador H.E Roger Luo this week, Prime Minister Hou said he is impressed with Taiwan’s assurance and commitment in supporting the construction of the Pacific Games Stadium.

“I am impressed because of the fact that this will be a mega project and a step in the right direction for preparations towards the 2023 Pacific Games,” he said.

Ambassador Luo paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister this week which he also used the occasion to reaffirm ROC Taiwan’s support for the 2023 Games.

The Prime Minister insists that he will call for an immediate briefing by the 2023 Pacific Games taskforce on the current status of the project.

Prime Minister Hou also wants close collaboration between Government officials and the Taiwanese Embassy to kick off work and a suitable site be identified as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, during the meeting the ROC Ambassador have also reassured the Prime Minister of the $1 Million Solar Power Project for SINU which was announced by the Taiwanese President during her state visit recently.

The Prime Minister said his office will set up a taskforce consisting of government officials, SINU and other stakeholders to oversee the implementation of the project which is set to roll out by next year.

Prime Minister Hou have acknowledged ROC as an important partner.

The ROC Ambassador then conveyed congratulations on behalf of the ROC President, Her Excellency, Tsai Ing-wen and the people of ROC Taiwan on Prime Minister Hou’s election last week.
